The subject says it all. Looking for accessible iPhone games that work with voice over and in portrit mode?
Thanks! Sorry if this is the wrong place but I thought this is the accessible games place..

popcorn, Soda, Murder is no longer available. I just tried grabbing it from the app store and got that message.

Post 4 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 09-Nov-2012 8:05:35

Agreed. I'd go on AppleVis. But poster 2 just gave you a ton of them, so as they said, if that doesn't get you going, what will. My favorite of the ones he listed is Roll It, but then I like dice games. There's also one called iFarkle, which is another dice game. Where's my Rubber Ducky is just funny. Gets old after awhile, but it's worth trying out for the amusement factor.

Post 5 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Friday, 09-Nov-2012 11:34:52

Hangman is good, but you have to find the game developed by Jamsoft. Search for Jamsoft in the App Store to find it. Worder is also a good anagram game. There are podcasts walking you through each of these 2 games on Applevis.

Post 6 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Friday, 09-Nov-2012 17:16:03

Very cool! These games sound really awesome! I just have one question though; after you download the game, and then you play it, does it use your data or just the battery? I've downloaded desteeno games and I've played the game run for president. It was neat and fun! Plus, I won lol! That's an awesome list thanks so much!

Post 7 by booklover256 (Veteran Zoner) on Friday, 09-Nov-2012 17:42:50

it only uses your data if the game is online. For example if you play hanging with friends, which is online, then you are connecting using internet to your opponent. If you are not on a wifi network, that will use your data. But, if you are playing a game like way walkers by yourself that doesn't go online, then just battery.

Post 8 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Friday, 09-Nov-2012 21:09:57

How do you know if a game is online or not? Not sure how to check that stuff..

Post 9 by Gracesong (Zone BBS is my Life) on Friday, 14-Dec-2012 22:46:31

If you're into interactive fiction, then you can find frotz in the app store. It comes bundled with quite a few games. However, I'm not sure if you can download other games for it.

Post 10 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Saturday, 22-Dec-2012 23:23:04

I'll look frotz up. very neat I'm always looking to try anything once. :) thanks!

Post 11 by rat (star trek rules!) on Sunday, 23-Dec-2012 9:52:16

usually if a game is being played against others it is online based. some games are a cross but you can usually tell if somethign will require internet access

Post 12 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 23-Dec-2012 20:13:18

I don't have wifi on my phone..can't get it at my apartment for whatever reason..

Post 13 by Faial (Zone BBS Addict) on Friday, 28-Dec-2012 10:45:19

I like a very simple game which I purchased for 3 Euros and 49 cents but there is a free version.
It is a manager football game (european football).
It is Elifoot Mobile 2012
It is 100 percent accessible and for those who like soccer and like manager style games it is cool.
It is very simple so you can play everywhere in the bus, waiting for a doctor etc.
This was a game very famous for Dos and later for Windows which people from generation played a lot in Brazil and Portugal in the 90s. So for me it was like going back to my childhood.
Just try and enjoy if you like it!

Post 14 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Monday, 14-Jan-2013 22:24:18

thanks much!

Thanks everyone for the game suggestions. I'm thinking about geting the I phone and was wondering what games I might be able to play.

Post 16 by overdrive (Veteran Zoner) on Monday, 11-Mar-2013 1:39:59

Try kings courner. Its a neat card game, and I like how you can play against others using game center.

Post 17 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Monday, 11-Mar-2013 5:29:07

lost cities.

I've never been able to get the hang of roll it.

Post 18 by mat the musician (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Monday, 11-Mar-2013 18:00:57

Try The Inquisitor, it works in portrait, and is rather pricey, but is definitely worth it. Excellent voice acting and 6-8 hours of gameplay.

Post 19 by Runner229 (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 12-Mar-2013 8:00:26

Are these games accessible from the IPod Touch as well? I'm a new apple user. I'm not due for a phone upgrade for another month and I can't wait.

Post 20 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 14-Mar-2013 8:13:45

A good iPod game is ErnCon, a space shooter which does not work in potrait, due to the nature of the game. I have spent sixty hours with the game, and am enjoying it a load!

Post 21 by jessmonsilva (Taking over the boards, one topic at a time.) on Sunday, 17-Mar-2013 1:59:58

I cannot for the life of me figure out dimensions, lol.
Another game I love that everyone forgot is iAssociate 2.
I need to get king of dragon pass. and bop it is really fun, at least for me.

Post 22 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 18-Mar-2013 7:54:17

I play iMobsters, World War, and Kingdoms.

Post 23 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Tuesday, 09-Apr-2013 12:55:52

bassplayer, the games you just mentioned above this post, are they iPhone games? Or, are they iPod?
For those of you interested, papasangre is back after being out of the app store for a while. Though, I won't buy it. 4.99 is pricy I think just for a game that I'll sometimes play. Just my opinion, if it's something you like you go for it! :)

Post 24 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 10-Apr-2013 0:09:07

If I may interject, Unique one. While I agree with you at times about the steap price for some games, I'm not so sure Papa Sangre is one of those. When you consider how much work must have gone into the production of that one, it's actually a pretty good deal. I found it a bit of wasted potential overall, but the idea's a good one, and they did a pretty good job with its production. I don't know if five bucks is really too much to ask for that.

Post 25 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 10-Apr-2013 9:37:17

ErnCon is a universal game, playable on all flavors of the IOS devices. As for Papa Sangle, I am going to hold my fire on that one, as ErnCon is free and highly addicting.

Post 26 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 10-Apr-2013 9:38:57

Oh, and Kingdoms, World War, and iMobsters are also universal, working on all flavors of IOS device.

Post 27 by mat the musician (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Thursday, 11-Apr-2013 17:31:33

99percent of IOS games are IPOD-touch compatible, except for the ones which use GPS for navigation, such as Turf wars (which is fully accessible, by the way).

Post 28 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 11-Apr-2013 17:44:35

I wonder if Turf Wars could be used by way of IP addresses?

Post 29 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Thursday, 11-Apr-2013 17:51:20

So with the Dimensions game, I never got past the tutorial because they wanted me to spam my Twitter feed or Fakebook profile with their stuff. Any way to work around / past that one?

Thanks.

Post 30 by LittleSneezer (The Zone-BBS is my prison, but I like it here.) on Thursday, 11-Apr-2013 18:14:14

WordZinga and Accessible Fruitmachine are two great games that haven't been mentioned yet.

Post 31 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Saturday, 13-Apr-2013 22:36:37

For anyone who has the original version of the papa sangre game, the upgrade is free. The developers had to rewrite the game from scratch, so I think $4.99 is a reasonable price given the work that went into it. When it came out a couple of years ago, it was $6.00.
I keep getting killed by the snuffle hog on level five immediately after picking up the second note. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting past that blood-thirsty creature? I know it can be done, but I can't remember how. same goes for the quicksand level. I think that's eleven.

Post 32 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 14-Apr-2013 1:34:10

The key thing is to not trip. Walk it slow, and keep rotating. Always keep old snuffle to your back.

Post 33 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Thursday, 18-Apr-2013 20:26:13

I've just joined iMobsters. neat game! Would anyone like to join up with me? Still trying to learn it..i'm at levil 8 ticoon. It keeps wanting me to play solitare or some line up the jewls game for missions...annoying! Any advice?

Take out the spaces i think..

Post 34 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Friday, 19-Apr-2013 8:19:30

Yeah, you don't need the spaces there. Mine is 5nwdpw, and I am a level 16, generating over a million dollars in income.

Post 35 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Saturday, 20-Apr-2013 17:58:22

Silversword? Last I heard it didn't work well with VoiceOver. An attempt was made to bring the developer into the fold, but while he initially seemed quite open to the idea, the blind individual who first raised the subject to him kept on Emailing him to ask how the accessibility was coming along without first waiting to see what would come of his initial message. That understandably annoyed the developer just a bit, particularly since he'd asked people not to discuss the issue anymore for a while so he could do some of his own research and experimentation to try and find the best ways to make the game and VoiceOver more responsible to each other. Well then the kid who'd written to him went and immaturely wrote a bad review of the game on the ITunes store just because the developer pointed out that he'd only heard of the notion of blind accessibility two or three weeks before and hadn't quite figured out how to implement it.

Post 36 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Saturday, 20-Apr-2013 21:35:52

Wow..

Post 37 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Sunday, 21-Apr-2013 4:25:37

Two games to mention:
The Ice Lake in Papa Sangre newest version is really a doozie! I've beaten everything else up until then and usually get 4 or 5 notes but always get eaten before I can escape.
The Zombies Run Game has gone to Version 2.0 but they say we have to wait for 2.1 for VoiceOver support. I foolishly deleted my app and reinstalled before reading this.
I am on an iPod Touch for Zombies, which makes it run slow since it's a 4th gen from December 2010, but running latest iOS.
Anyway they say we have to wait for 2.1 for the latest inorder to run missions again with VoiceOver at which point I apparently have to start the game all over, which is fine. I can do that. Provided I can then actually use it and actually build a building or several. I enjoyed Version 1 minus the fact I couldn't build the base, though I didn't have it very long.
They then will be charging for new episodes, via various Seasons Passes methods.
Also enjoy Sixth Sense the Zombie.
I wish there were more games like Where's My Rubber Ducky and Blindside, where you are physical and moving around. To me that is more playing a game than sitting still, I guess. Call me old school, I dono. Maybe that is why I can't stick to muds or other online roleplay, since I would rather swing a device around or point and shoot, or otherwise gyrate into and out of situations.

Post 38 by The royal princess (Zone BBS Addict) on Sunday, 21-Apr-2013 9:05:36

I like diceworld. You can play pig, farquil and yatsee and other stuff. I paid to remove my ads but otherwise it's free.

Post 39 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Wednesday, 24-Apr-2013 12:53:50

Never heard of a lot of these games..I'm on I mobsters. lol..Ice lake sounds neat. Wish I could do games like sims..you know building stuff..making people etc

Post 40 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Wednesday, 24-Apr-2013 14:07:13

If you like sims, try Hatchi, it's one of those retro virtual pet type games.
There's other sims out there but I don't know how well they work for us. My daughter used to play café world and other similar types on her MyTouch 4G Android phone but she is fully sighted.

Post 41 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Thursday, 25-Apr-2013 19:33:00

Are you referring to Zombies Run 5K Training? That one has not been updated and the latest version does not work with VoiceOver.

Post 42 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Friday, 26-Apr-2013 9:09:33

How about Guitar Hero for iOS? I am debating on buying it.

Post 43 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Friday, 26-Apr-2013 11:21:48

Zombies Run 2.1 is out, don't know about the 5K training but the 2.1 which came out yesterday has all the VoiceOver fixes.
Now, I seem to have lost materials for some reason and need to get those back maybe.
Anyway still have supplies and now you can see the squares and the buildings on them. And, your missions screen works again with VoiceOver. went for a RUN! last night though now they say an armband would work better with this game. I may have to run to BestBuy or something and pick one up. I do want to give it a try with the armband, and would love to know the difference between materials and supplies. I collected a box of medical files last night, as part of the mission. It still registers no materials though. And this is odd to me.

Post 44 by Vegaspipistrelle (Generic Zoner) on Saturday, 27-Apr-2013 13:08:41

Dimensions is tricky. I just ignore all the Facebook stuff, because I like to play games alone. You can buy energy packs or play other levels. The more noises you make, the more artifacts will approach you.

The Nightjar is now available in more countries. In my opinion, if you only want portrait games, you may be missing out on games such as this one. It has the most immersive soundscape I've ever heard for IOS games. And you don't have to turn Voiceover off to play it.

Post 45 by mat the musician (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Sunday, 28-Apr-2013 18:02:00

If your a fan of pokemon-style games, you may like Haypi Monster, it's completely accessible and VO Friendly. I downloaded it for accessibility-testing purposes, but I'm more a story-driven person and the quests in such monster-training games aren't super immersive.
Regarding Zombies run 5k training, you can buy the 5k as well as 10k circuits in the ship, for about 3 us dollars.
It would be great if IOS app developers created a Sryth IOS app, playing it in Safari is quite irritating since the cursor jumps all over the place.

Post 46 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Sunday, 28-Apr-2013 18:36:03

So I found out about the materials in Zombies Run. You don't earn materials until you reach Season 2. I bought the Plus Pack plus all the races and quests, about ten dollars above the original cost of the game, which I bought at half price $4.99 but these were also marked down in price. So I'll get Seasons 2 and 3. I really like the new squares layout where we can use the touch screen to see where it all is, using the VoiceOver.

Post 47 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Monday, 29-Apr-2013 23:25:27

When I open Zombies 5K Training, VoiceOver wont even read anything on the screen. Swiping in any direction doesn't help, and disabling VoiceOver doesn't do anything either. I hope this will be fixed soon.

Post 48 by DRUM GODDESS (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Friday, 03-May-2013 18:00:11

I wish I could play sims too, but then I'd probably play that game to much lol.

okay, got the Zombies 5K training issue fixed. Part 2 to Papa Sangre? Awesome. Can't wait.

Post 51 by Juliet (move over school!) on Thursday, 06-Jun-2013 22:33:43

I love dimensions, but have the hardest time most of the time getting an artifact centered. I manage to get one once in a blue moon, but most of the time, they drift away from me no matter how much I move around the soon, or how slowly/carefully I do it, which drives me nuts.
In the end, I just try to let my quantem cells build, and end up changing them into artifacts just so I can complete the dimension, then go back to one I already completed so I can build up more.
So far, all I have left to complete are the ghost and collective dimensions, but don't have anyone on line yet to play the collective dimension with me, even though I've gotten messages telling me people have joined, so guess we're just never on at the same time. How do you find out who's joined you?
I also love IFarkle and Moxi, but only have the free version of the Moxi game.

Post 52 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Friday, 07-Jun-2013 0:04:16

I've found an accessible text adventure game. You can also play it online. It's made by choice games llc. They have choice romance, choice intreeg which is a sequel to the romance one and they have choice dragon. I haven't played that one yet. Voice over works great reads everything!

Post 53 by mat the musician (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Friday, 07-Jun-2013 14:49:42

Anything by Xyrality GMBH is accessible, such as Lords and Knights, Celtic Tribes, Crazy Tribes, and some other games. THey're all real-time strategy games which are fully accessible with VoiceOver.

Another game that may be worth checking out is Ear Monsters.
It uses binoral sound, and involved monster killing. It's two dollars, and I've heard it's quite good, though have not played it myself.

Post 56 by moonspun (This site is so "educational") on Tuesday, 18-Jun-2013 10:28:05

Soul Trapper is a good game for those who like stories more than actual gameplay, as there's more of the former than the latter.

Post 57 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Tuesday, 18-Jun-2013 20:54:29

Very neat since I enjoy stories. :)

Post 58 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Wednesday, 19-Jun-2013 10:28:55

Nobody's mentioned Audio Archery by L-Works. Really good game for just passing the time. I have not got up to level 10 yet, but it's one of those games you can on-again off-again play. Will have to check out the Ear Monsters game, I always love the zombie monster hack-'n'-slash games.

Post 59 by Shepherdwolf (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Thursday, 20-Jun-2013 0:05:31

Soul Trapper is neat, but I have still never found a way past a certain point in the plot. I mean...I'm fast, but this is crazy fast. Voice-over kind of screws with it. Definitely a neat story though.
If you do decide to monkey about with Soul Trapper, just bear in mind that when you hit chapter 18 or so, you may very well be stuck. If you aren't, for heaven's sake give me a tip on how to get past the hard bit. Heh. I'd appreciate it. That aside, the game is really quite good.

Post 60 by mat the musician (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Friday, 12-Jul-2013 22:25:18

I've heard that Freeq is an excellent audio game, but it's 5 dollars, and I'm not sure how accessible it would be, since you need to connect different characters by drawing lines on the screen to make them talk to each other.

Post 61 by kithri (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Monday, 02-Dec-2013 13:06:46

I currently have almost all games listed here and I am running an iPod touch 5 gen and a friend of mine has an iPhone 4 and they all work on both. I would, however, caution everyone that is still running the IOS 6 version to really think hard before upgrading to IOS 7 as some games and other things may stop working and there are still bugs that need to be worked out and the download is quite large.
Oh, if anyone was into the pokamon card games there is one similar called ayakashi where you collect demon cards and enhance them and do battle and gain levels. The game is free, but you can purchase health refills and special summon packs with real cash.

Post 62 by illumination (Darkness is history.) on Wednesday, 04-Dec-2013 22:02:09

If you haven't tried it yet, make sure you try Papa Sangre II.

Post 63 by Shepherdwolf (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Wednesday, 04-Dec-2013 23:52:18

Papa Sangre II is much harder than the original. Fair warning. Deaths aren't quite as grisly either, which might be a relief to some. The voice-acting and such is also a fair bit better, and the differing themes are quite welcome.

A question to any of you who might know: I've unlocked "achievements" for certain levels, and was just wondering whether there's any reason to do so. Does it unlock any other game content or further skip tickets or anything?

Post 64 by battle star queen (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 11-Jan-2014 22:10:03

To the last poster, it depends on if the game you are playing needs to use the internet. If you look at a game's description, sometimes it will tell you if the game needs to use the intenet. Here are some of my favorite games, alter ego, baby adopter, hatchy, one foudation, bubble island, and mash.

Post 65 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Friday, 17-Jan-2014 22:00:41

I like baby adopter but after you're done with it that's it..you're done.
